Watch: Liton Das, the Bangladeshi wicketkeeper, Imitates MS Dhoni’s Epic No-Look Run Out

With a runout reminiscent of MS Dhoni’s, Bangladeshi wicketkeeper Litton Das sent Dasun Shanaka back to the pavilion. Currently, Bangladesh is hosting Sri Lanka for a bilateral visit that includes two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. In the last match on March 9, Sri Lanka defeated the hosts to secure the T20I series victory for the trip.

Shanaka was seeking a double when he hit a shot towards mid-on with the last ball of the first inning in that particular game. But Litton had other ideas about the hitter. He surprised everyone by recognizing when to gather the ball and toss it toward the stumps without even turning to face them. The incredible catch made cricket fans think of former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was renowned for making no-look wickets like this during his career.

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium served as home to Bangladesh’s Twenty20 international final. After winning the toss, the hosts elected to bowl first to start the game. Bangladesh scored 174 runs in the first half, with Litton Das’ stumping perhaps the only bright spot. With 86 runs in only 55 balls, Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis led his team’s innings. There were six boundaries and six sixes throughout his innings. Before being run out by the Bangladeshi wicketkeeper near the finish, Dasun Shanka scored another 19 runs in only nine balls.

Litton Das started with Soumya Sarkar in the second half, but he was unable to have much of an effect. Bangladesh’s top batting order was destroyed by Sri Lankan spinner Nuwan Thushara, who went on a spree and dismissed players like Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, and Mahmudullah. Bangladesh lost six wickets and are now at 32. In an attempt to save the innings for the home team, Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain managed to form a partnership. Hossain smacked seven sixes throughout the game and scored 53 runs in 30 balls. Taskin contributed an additional 31 in 21, but it was insufficient. Bangladesh lost the series 1-2 to Sri Lanka and ultimately conceded a loss by 28 runs.

The first ODI series match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will take place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on March 13. Before taking on the two tests, they will be keen to win this series.

Speaking about MS Dhoni, the legendary player from India is expected to play again in the next IPL 2024 season. The icon, shown with a trademark long hairstyle and an old-school appearance, will try to lead Chennai to what might be a sixth Indian Premier League championship.
